Traditionelle Weihnacht (Traditional Christmas Music)

Aside from the medieval song "Quem pastores laudevere" which opens this CD, all the vocal and instrumental pieces for the Christmas season come from the south German region: "O selige Nacht" is taken from Kaspar Carti's songbook (Augsburg 1800); "Still, still" comes from the Salzkammergut region; the somewhat tipsy shepherd, who mistakes the radiance of the angels for a fire and the Virgin Mary for a countess, comes from Styria ("Los, Brueda Florian").
The arrangements of the songs for all types of instruments as well as the programmatic interpretations were prepared by Paul Angerer. Schawms and small bells provide the background for the traditional folk event.
