Through the acquisition of the entire catalogue by the KEPACH Music Group in 2008, this monographic collection was placed on the market with the aim to recount the most beautiful chapters of the Italian labels that revolutionised the history of jazz since their founding in 1975. Black Saint and Soul Note rose to the forefront thanks to their commitment to emerging artists of avant-garde jazz. Over the course of their 30-year history under the direction of Giovanni Bonandrini, the two labels accumulated a vast collection of historic recordings by musicians who defined an era. The catalogues include approximately 580 titles of exceptional and rare recordings performed by some of the most acclaimed, innovative jazz musicians from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, such as Andrew Hill, Cecil Taylor, Dave Douglas, Anthony Braxton and the World Saxophone Quartet. A common patrimony, universally recognised and affirmed by seven triumphs as Best Label proclaimed by the Down Beat poll, Black Saint and Soul Note boast masterpieces in their catalogues, such as "Parallel Worlds" (Dave Douglas; "Etudes" (Charlie Haden, Paul Motian); "For Olim" (Cecil Taylor); "To Them-To Us" (Jaki Byard); and "Eugene 1989" (Anthony Braxton).
