Freddy Cole's life was destined to be a musical one. Born in Chicago in 1931 into a family of musicians, Lionel Frederick Cole was the youngest of five children. His three elder brothers each followed their own paths into the music business. One of them <0x2014> the legendary Nat King Cole <0x2014> achieved went on to become an icon in twentieth century popular music. Although Freddy Cole has established and sustained a successful career that stretches back to the 1950s, he has never received the recognition he truly deserves. This audiophile-remastered Dutton disc, which brings together his 1978 album One More Love Song and his 1980 release Right from the Heart, may help bring about a reassessment of Cole's work. Recorded in the UK with orchestras consisting of some of Britain's leading jazz and session musicians, these albums present Cole's renditions of modern pop numbers backed by sophisticated, jazzy arrangements.
