Raynald Colom

A young prodigy, French trumpeter Raynald Colom caught the attention of jazz greats Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove and Kenny Barron, who helped support Colom's musical studies. In 2000 he moved to Barcelona where he started freelancing, working with musicians such as Randy Becker, Jesse Davis and Horacio Fumero. During this period, Colom also traveled throughout the US and Latin America as part of Manu Chao’s "Clandestino" tour. Currently, Colom is a star of the Spanish jazz scene, both in concert and in the studio. Following his work in the studio with Flamenco singer Duquende, Colom quickly became the premier trumpet player amongst the Flamenco elite. Colom's 2009 album Evocacìon, reissued here by Jazz Village, blends jazz and Flamenco in a heady mix of improvisations. The album also features the talents of Flamenco legends Chicuelo and Rosario la Tremendita.
